5 Conditions That Make Your Foreign MBBS Valid in India

If you satisfy all five conditions below, your degree is valid.

✅ 1. You Must Qualify NEET

This is compulsory.

You must clear NEET in the same year you take admission abroad.

Without NEET:

• You cannot appear for FMGE

• You cannot appear for NEXT

• You cannot get registration in India

No NEET = No Indian licence. Simple.

✅ 2. Course Duration Must Be Minimum 5.5 Years

As per NMC rules:

• 4.5 years academic study

• 1-year compulsory internship

Total = Minimum 54 months + 12 months internship

If your course is shorter, your degree may not be accepted.

Always check the official university duration, not what agents tell you.

✅ 3. The University Must Be Recognized

Your university must be:

• Approved by that country’s medical authority

• Listed in World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS)

• Eligible for licensing exam in that country

Examples of recognized universities (subject to eligibility rules):

• Tashkent Medical Academy

• Kazan Federal University

• Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University

But recognition alone is not enough — clinical exposure also matters.

✅ 4. You Must Clear Licensing Exam in India

After completing MBBS abroad, you must pass:

👉 Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE)
OR
👉 National Exit Test (NEXT)

Without passing this exam:

• You cannot practice in India

• You cannot open a clinic

• You cannot join government hospital

• You cannot do PG in India

This exam is the real gatekeeper.

✅ 5. Internship Must Be Completed Properly

Under 2021 NMC rules:

• Internship must be completed in the same country where you studied

• It must meet NMC standards

• If not adequate, India may require additional internship

Many students ignore this — and later suffer.

• FMGE pass rate

• Clinical confidence
