NEET Counselling Documents 2026: Complete Checklist
One missing original, invalid certificate or name mismatch can delay verification. Build a clean master file before choice locking and adapt it to the exact authority and allotted college.
- Core documents
- Category and domicile proofs
- Originals, copies and scans
- Reporting-day file

Common NEET counselling documents include the NEET 2026 admit card and scorecard, Class 10 and 12 certificates/marksheets, government photo ID, recent photographs and the counselling registration or allotment papers. Category, EWS, PwBD, domicile, nationality, NRI or other eligibility certificates are needed only where claimed. The authority’s current bulletin and allotment letter always override a generic checklist.
NEET Counselling Documents Required in 2026
The exact list differs between MCC, state counselling and the reporting institution. Still, most candidates can prepare the following core file early and add authority-specific papers after registration or allotment.
NEET and counselling records
- NEET UG 2026 admit card
- Official NEET UG 2026 scorecard/rank letter
- Counselling registration confirmation
- Payment receipt and submitted application
- Locked-choice slip, when available
- Provisional allotment letter, after allotment
Identity and academic records
- Class 10 certificate for date-of-birth proof
- Class 10 marksheet
- Class 12 certificate and marksheet
- Government-issued photo identity proof
- Recent passport-size photographs
- Transfer/migration or conduct certificate if required

Category, Domicile and Special-Claim Certificates
A reservation or eligibility benefit normally depends on valid documentary proof—not merely the category selected in the NEET form. Check the issuing authority, required format, issue date and validity period in the current counselling notice.
| Claim | Possible supporting document | Check before submission |
|---|---|---|
| SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS | Applicable category or income/asset certificate | Prescribed format, competent issuer and current validity |
| State quota | Domicile, residence, schooling or parent-service evidence | The specific state eligibility rule |
| PwBD | Valid disability certificate from the prescribed process/centre | Course eligibility and current counselling instructions |
| NRI/minority/other quota | Relationship, sponsorship, nationality or community evidence | Every document named by the authority |
| Name difference | Gazette, affidavit, marriage or correction record as accepted | Get written guidance before reporting |
Do not assume that a certificate accepted for an exam will automatically satisfy every state or institution. If a document is pending, contact the official authority early and keep a dated record of the guidance received.
Prepare Originals, Photocopies and Digital Scans
1. Original folder
Place originals in the authority’s checklist order. Use transparent sleeves without stapling or laminating a document unless already issued that way.
2. Copy packets
Prepare at least three self-attested photocopy sets. Number each packet and carry spare photographs, a pen and blank paper.
3. Digital backup
Save readable colour scans in a private cloud folder and offline drive. Use clear names such as StudentName_NEETScorecard_2026.pdf.
- Same spelling across scorecard, ID and marksheets
- Same date of birth across records
- All four corners visible in every scan
- No password on upload copies unless requested
- File type and size match portal instructions
- Certificates are unexpired and readable
- Receipts and submitted forms downloaded
- Family keeps one backup copy set
Do not hide it. Plan the correct resolution before college reporting.
What to Carry for College Reporting
The allotment letter and college notice become your controlling checklist. Along with the core and applicable special certificates, reporting may require the admission-fee receipt, medical fitness certificate, anti-ragging undertakings, gap affidavit, migration/transfer certificate, bond or service documents and institution-specific forms.
Before leaving home
- Read the allotment letter line by line
- Confirm reporting date, time and location
- Check accepted payment method and amount
- Contact only official helplines for doubts
- Photograph the packed file for reference
Before leaving the college
- Collect payment and document receipts
- Confirm which originals were retained
- Ask for the next reporting or joining step
- Save the admission confirmation safely
- Never hand originals to an unauthorised agent

What documents are required for NEET counselling 2026?
Common items include the NEET admit card and scorecard, Class 10 and 12 records, photo ID, photographs, registration papers and applicable category or domicile certificates. Follow the exact current authority checklist.
Are original documents compulsory during MBBS reporting?
Originals are commonly required for physical verification. The allotment letter and college notice state what must be produced and whether any originals will be retained.
How many photocopy sets should I carry?
Three labelled self-attested sets are a practical starting point, but carry the number stated by the counselling authority or allotted college.
Is a domicile certificate required for MCC counselling?
Domicile requirements depend on the seat pool and authority. State-quota eligibility often uses state-specific residence or schooling rules, while MCC processes have their own eligibility conditions.
What if my name is different on two documents?
Contact the authority before reporting. Do not alter a document. Obtain the accepted correction or supporting record and keep written guidance wherever possible.
Can I submit an old OBC-NCL or EWS certificate?
Only if it meets the current prescribed format, issuing-authority and validity rules. Check the applicable bulletin instead of relying on last year’s requirement.
Are digital copies enough for NEET counselling?
Scans may be used for online uploads, but physical verification can require originals and photocopies. Prepare all three formats unless the official notice says otherwise.
